AYM classes are all led practices. In the AYM classes, we teach a range of styles, from Restorative & Yin to Vinyasa. Our distinguishing feature is our emphasis on detail, precision, and alignment so our students can practice safely and with confidence.
The term "Ashtanga" can refer to two different concepts in the context of yoga: the "Eight Limbs of Yoga" and the specific style of yoga known as "Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga" developed by Pattabhi Jois. While our approach to teaching is rooted in the Ashtanga tradition of Jois, we have branched out in our studies over the years. Inspired by the Krishnamacharya lineage, we observe Ashtanga as the eight limbs and not just the Jois branch. These other disciplines include the teachings of Iyengar, restorative, yin, hatha, mediation, pranayama and structural movement. Our teachers include the wisdom of these practices in their classes to offer a more inclusive, more adaptable, more contemporary form of practice. Not limited solely to the branch of asana and pranayama we continue to explore all 8 limbs of Yoga.
Community is a central tenant at AYM. We are so proud of our community of friendly, caring, and welcoming teachers and students who, together, create a safe and inspiring environment where everyone can grow.
At AYM you are welcome, seen and acknowledged.
